The course will be held at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Ln., Piscataway, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesdays: July 10, 17, 24 & 31

The Diocese of Metuchen's Office of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults will hold a four-session summer training series at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane, Piscataway. The sessions will be held from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays:

  • June 20 - Overview & Precatechumenate
  • June 27 - Catechumenate
  • July 11 - Purification & Enlightenment
  • July 18 - Triduum & Mystagogy

Summer Seminar for Skills for Pastoral Musicians

$35/person for advance registration; $40/person for onsite registration – registration required

All pastoral musicians are invited to attend a Summer Seminar for Skills from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 28 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges. 

Hosted by the Diocese of Metuchen's Office of Worship and the Metuchen Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM), this seminar will develop the basic skills necessary for music ministers, including vocal and instrumental music and liturgy. 

The day will begin with Morning Prayer, followed by your choice of breakout session. After breakout sessions, the group will reconvene for a panel discussion and lunch. Advance registration is requested. 

The cost to attend is $35/person for advance registration and $40/person for onsite registration. Lunch is included.

This seminar is the first in a three-year series that will be held the last Saturday in July of 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Vatican II and the Church of the Third Millennium - Session One

Join Fr. Gregory Uhrig for an exploration of the enduring power of Vatican II’s teachings in our day. The course will be held on four consecutive Wednesdays from 10 am. – 11 a.m., beginning August 8. Based on a video series entitled Vatican II and the Church of the Third Millennium with Dr. Richard R. Gaillardetz, Ph.D., this course will offer an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the challenges facing the Catholic Church today. There is no charge to attend. 

Dr. Gaillardetz is a professor of systematic theology at Boston College. He received his Ph.D. in systematic theology from the University of Notre Dame and is currently the president of the Catholic Theological Society of America. He has written numerous articles and 10 books on matters of ecclesiology, the Second Vatican Council, and the Magisterium. 

The following four sessions are part one of a two-part series. The second part of the course will take place in November.

The Diocese of Metuchen’s Office of Cultural Diversity Ministries invites you to celebrate the heritage and Independence Day of India & Pakistan on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 1740 US Route 130, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. 

Bishop James F. Checchio will be the main celebrant and homilist.

Procession and Call to Prayer: 4:30 p.m.
Rosary: 5 p.m.   
Mass: 5:30 p.m.   
Dinner and cultural event: 7 p.m. 

The cost of dinner is $10 for individuals 5 years or age and above.

The registration deadline is July 20. Tickets must be purchased prior to this registration deadline. No tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event.
