Transitional Diaconate Mass of Ordination

Bishop James F. Checchio will ordain three men to the Transitional Diaconate. Joseph Illes, Matthew Marinelli and Michael Tabernero will be ordained on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, Metuchen.

Please pray for these men and please continue to pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood in our diocese.

Annual NJ Catholic Youth Rally at Great Adventure

The NJ Catholic Youth Rally is an opportunity for youth from the five dioceses in New Jersey to come together for a fun-filled-day! With an opening prayer service and a dynamic liturgy, this day provides the perfect opportunity to rejoice in the Catholic identity. In 2018, the return ticket will allow you to participate in "Holiday in the Park" during the Christmas holidays.

Fatima Candlelight Procession

Our Lady of Fatima parish will hold their 17th annual Fatima Candlelight Procession in honor of their patroness on Sunday, May 20. We will gather in front of the church at 7:00pm and start the procession at 7:30pm. The procession will include invited priests, deacons and religious and a guest presider. Faithful from Our Lady of Fatima and surrounding parishes will join representatives from our ministries and organizations along with our First Communicants, Confirmandi and children dressed as angels and saints. We will process throughout the parish neighborhood, approximately nine blocks behind the beautiful statue of Our Blessed Mother Mary. Upon arrival back at the church there will be a program in the church with our guest homilist, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction and the traditional Fatima Farewell. The Rosary will be recited in the church for those unable to walk the procession route. Candles and rosaries are available for a small donation.

Memorial Day Mass at Resurrection Cemetery

Rev. Msgr. Joseph G. Celano, Episcopal Vicar of Administration, will preside at an outdoor Memorial Day Mass at 10 a.m. May 28, rain or shine, on the grounds of Resurrection Cemetery, Hoes Lane and Park Ave., Piscataway.

As part of a national Catholic cemeteries’ celebration entitled, “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes,” the program was developed to honor those men and women who died while serving in the armed forces, as well as recognize both our active military and military veterans who have served our country. This year, there will be a wreath laying ceremony, which will include honor guard participation, the playing of TAPS at the end of the Mass.
