Critical Life Issues Conference

The 17th Annual Critical Life Issues Conference, sponsored by the Diocese of Metuchen in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Newark, will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on October 20 at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Ln., Piscataway. Expert speakers will address a variety of life issues including:

  • “Humanae Vitae at 50 Years – Back to the Future” 
  • “The Beauty and Wisdom of God’s Design: A Millennial’s Perspective”  
  • “From Death to Life:  A Conversion Story – Becoming a Missionary Disciple for Life”  

The speakers will give practical information as well as thought-provoking testimony of real life experiences. Excerpts from the documentary film “Unprotected” will also be shown. The Conference will also feature exhibits of products and services which pertain to some of these issues.

Catechetical Conference

The Office of Discipleship Formation will hold a Catechetical Conference on Saturday, October 27. The event is $35 per person: $30 per person for groups of 5-9; or $25 per person for groups of 10 or more.

The keynote address this year will be presented by Msgr. Eugene “Geno” Sylva, S.T.D., the Episcopal Vicar for Diocesan Initiatives in the Diocese of Paterson, who most recently served for five years as the English Language Official of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization in Rome.

The 3rd Annual Diocesan Christmas Party for Children and Young Adults with Disabilities will be held on December 15. Due to limited space, this is a ticket only event and pre-registration is required.

Vatican II and the Church of the Third Millennium

Join Fr. Gregory Uhrig for an exploration of the enduring power of Vatican II’s teachings in our day. The course will be held on three consecutive Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., beginning Jan. 23. Based on a video series entitled Vatican II and the Church of the Third Millennium with Dr. Richard R. Gaillardetz, Ph.D., this course will offer an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the challenges facing the Catholic Church today. There is no charge to attend and no registration is required.
