World Mission Sunday Family Celebration

10:30 am – 3:00 pm
10/22/2017

In our Diocese, the World Mission Sunday (WMS) Family Celebration on October 22, 2017 starts with a one-mile walk in the blocks surrounding the Cathedral. This Walk-A-Thon mimics the mile-or-so walk that the poor and disadvantaged children in mission countries have to live with in order to get to Church or school. Our Diocesan children raise funds for disadvantaged children in mission countries through pledges for participating in the Walk-A-Thon. The walk starts at the CYO and ends at the steps of the Cathedral where the Bishop and concelebrants greet and bless the walkers a few minutes before noon. After the final Prayer of the Mass, approximately eight or so “awards” will be presented to distinguished Schools /Religious Education Programs. Finally, a simple “mission meal” is served downstairs in SFC (approximately 150 attendees) during which a brief mission presentation is given.
